was working on commissions...
then i wasn't
i was trying to make a business card design but i think this is too casual!
do any of you have a creative idea involving falvie/damascus that can be translated into something businessy? I thought of falvie with a paintbrush but that might be too cliche...
done with charcoal for the background and 2B .5 mechanical pencil, photo taken with my s3 camera *-*

Coming up with logs can be tricky. Do you have an idea for a general layout that you want to use for your business card?
The other thing is that the logo should be 1) personal, 2) convey what it is that you primarily do and 3) not distract from the information on the card. Some companies use watermarked logos on their cards for that reason, others build the logo into the layout. It also depends on where you want your customer's eyes to end up. When you look at a business card, your customer's eyes should usually be drawn to the contact and service information on the card.
Sorry it's not much help. I had the thought of maybe having Damascus with a paintbrush in his mouth and looking mischevious might be one way to do it, or if you were OK with having multiple character designs in use on your cards (for example, 50/50 split between Falvie and Damascus, or other splits with other characters supporting art themes). In short....
1) Pick a character
2) Pick an attitude
3) Pick an art resource that you want that character to demonstrate (for example, Damascus with a paintbrush in his mouth, Falvie with an Ebony pencil in hers, some other character with a Pastel block in their paw, with a painted canvas, &c).
4) Determine how many different icons you want to have in your business card collection
5) Print off that many different sets of business cards, one per character
I know Apple and a few other companies do stuff like that -- for Apple, they just change the colors on the logo so that each employee has business cards with a single Apple logo on them in a solid color, but the color may vary from card to card.

I should also note that having multiple icons for a character could also make your business cards collectable/desirable, so another thing to consider is whether or not you want intentionally small runs so that your business cards can be 'collectible sets' or not. I think it depends on how much you expect to be using your business cards and to whom you're going to be giving them.
now ive got this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNSQTqNx3wk stuck in my head thanks to you! :P
Wow it looks great!
You could try something like having the back of falvie/damascus being a sketch and as it slowly moves up the body towards the head, it gets more painted. (Not a very good idea but that's all I got :()
Or like a picture of part of damascus/falvie being sketched on a piece of paper and then half of their body is coming out of the paper, like, giving life to art?

ok .. you need ideas for business cards ?
I'm gonna help you as good as I can :D
don't use a brush. i mean do not force falvie taking a brush into her mouth xD
this is .. yeah .. like you said: everyone comes up with that.
but you're different. haha ;D i mean you're special and you want to be noticed ! oO
.. you should use lots of colors. falvie is a colorful doggy, so this won't be a big problem..
i thought about looking for good ideas and show you things i like. (i mean this is just my opinion, dunno if you'd like it)

a finished business card by AlectorFencer
but honestly this does not really look like a business card - you will have to give it a more "business-card-like look" (:
like putting your name on it etc

yes I know, it's not a business card but I like the brushes she used at the right side of this ... animal. (dunno what it could be oO)
but do not put a drawing on both sides ! this wil be confusing for the watcher.
one problem is: you will have to put any item into the picture so watchers will see "aah, it's an artist!"
you could try it like this: http://i.poweredtemplates.com/i/br/.....template_b.jpg
hmm .. like .. a big big drop is falling on Falvie. out of bucket. (gosh I'm able to imagine a super cute picture)
for the backside: make it simple. one single color or even white will be enough too. this will tell people you're a serious and consequent artist.
if the business card is too filled it seems like you'd only like to get attention. and you already have attention, don't you? ;P
btw I really like these xD:

http://www.plasticcardindia.com/img.....rent-card3.jpg
http://cardobserver.com/wp-content/.....0/03/cool2.jpg
and you have to be sure to pay more for better "cards".
but: the better and cooler the card, the more will people recognise you !
I hope I could help you !
Best wishes :3

This doesn't seem too casual to me. I think this could work. I assume most of your clientele would be familiar with your work or are part on the whole anthro scene. For those whom that is not the case, this piece may not hold any significance, but it would serve as a good demonstration of your abilities.
Also fuck yeah traditional media.
